Salted Caramel Apple Tarts
About This Recipe
Apples are one of the heartiest fruits in the fall which are loaded with antioxidants and health benefits. Couple these classic recipe with INVIGOR8 Salted Caramel for a cleaner approach that won't leave you disappointed in the flavor department.
Instructions
Tart Dough:
- In a large bowl, combined flour and salt.
- Cut butter into small chunks and place into the bowl with the flour.
- With the back of a fork, split the butter into the flour mixture till the butter is in very small pieces.
- Add cold water and incorporate gently to create the dough. The dough should be firm and butter cold.
- Cover and place into the fridge for 4 hours, or till next day.
Filling:
- Peel, quarter and slice apples.
- Place in a bowl with lemon zest, lemon juice, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and superfood shaker powder. Mix well.
Baking:
- Take the cold pastry dough and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into 12 circles.
- In a muffin pan, place the dough circles in each space and press them to the sides and bottom.
- WIth a fork, poke the bottoms of the dough. This allows air to release as the dough bakes and doesn't get too fluffy.
- Bake the dough at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
- Remove the dough from the oven and arrange your apple filling in the tart shells.
- Drizzle any remaining juices over the apples.
- Bake at 350 degrees for another 20 minutes till apples soften.
- Cool and enjoy!!
Variations - more calories or less
- Exchange out sprouted wheat flour for your flour of choice!
